Friday morning, the Iowa Supreme Court released its ruling in the case of Planned Parenthood against the Iowa Board of Medicine over its ban on telemedicine abortions. Six of the seven justices concurred with an opinion written by Justice David Wiggins — who voters attempted to oust in 2012 over his involvement in the court’s gay marriage ruling — that said abortion is a constitutionally protected right.
Iowa Right to Life and Iowa Pro-Life Action have both remained mostly silent on the matter, while Personhood Iowa blasted the ruling. Meanwhile, The .Gif Shop staff imagines Bob Vander Plaats and The Family Leader are probably saying, “Told you so.” The effort to protect life from conception has obviously become an epic quest in Iowa, with a very large cast of players, so what better media to tell its story than the epic “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy?
