As-yet unannounced Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum has announced he is planning to head to Iowa immediately following his “major announcement” this week near his boyhood home in Pennsylvania. The 2012 Iowa Caucus winner also gave a sneak-peek at his campaign theme. He also announced a series of stops in South Carolina.

Santorum’s “Take Back America Tour” will begin Thursday afternoon at the “original” Machine Shed Restaurant located at 7250 Northwest Boulevard in Davenport. He plans to hold a town hall-style event with Iowans beginning at 3 p.m. there, during which time he will address the need for the Republican Party to fight for hard working families and what it will take to defeat presumptive Democratic nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton next November.

Friday morning, he will hold a breakfast discussion in the Club Room at the Hy-Vee supermarket located at 2323 West Broadway in Council Bluffs. During the event, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., he will hear the concerns of both employers and employees, the challenges they face, and discuss his plans to help grow the U.S. economy and improve the lives of working families.

He will then turn his attention to South Carolina — another early-voting state in the nomination process — on Saturday and Sunday.
