Young announces Treynor resident’s appointment to U.S. Naval Academy

U.S. Rep. David Young (R-IA 3) announced today that Dane Livengood of Treynor has received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, Class of 2019. Young called Livengood Tuesday morning and congratulated him on the accomplishment.

Dane grew up in Treynor, Iowa, graduating from Treynor High School in 2014. He has spent the last year at the Greystone Preparatory School in Kerrville, Texas.

“This is quite an honor, and Dane earned it. He is an exemplary student, a star athlete and an active volunteer in his community. What really impressed me was his commitment to service; he identified his goal and he pursued it relentlessly. I am so proud that he will be representing Iowa at the Academy.

“We need more men and women like Dane who will pursue their dreams no matter the odds. I know his family must be proud and they should be this is quite the accomplishment for Dane and the Livengood family. Dane has a bright future ahead of him.”

Young offers nominations to students from Iowa’s Third Congressional District to U.S. military service academies who have excelled in school. They are also interviewed and recommended by members of his Academy Advisory Board, which is made up of community leaders from each of the 16 counties in the Third District. The individual academies make the final decision on military appointments.
