The Talkers Magazine has released its annual list of most powerful and influential talk radio hosts in the country, and this year, there are three Iowa-based hosts on the list. All of them operate out of the Des Moines area.

Topping the “Heavy Hundred” this year were Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Dave Ramsey. But also making the list were conservative talk radio hosts Steve Deace, Simon Conway, and Jan Mickelson.

Deace, who formerly held the afternoon drive-time spot at 50,000-watt blowtorch WHO-AM, is nationally syndicated with USA Radio Networks. Last year, he made No. 99 on the Heavy Hundred. This year, he climbed several spots to No. 63, beating out former presidential candidate Herman Cain, Sirius-XM shock-talks Opie & Jim Norton, Jerry Doyle, Mark Belling, and Joe Piscopo.

Simon Conway, who took over the afternoon duties at WHO when Deace went national, moved into the Heavy Hundred at No. 92. He is also heard on WMT-AM in Cedar Rapids. Jan Mickelson, who is also heard on both WHO and WMT, debuted this year at No. 97 on the list.
