The Iowa Air National Guard’s 132nd Wing will host the opening of their new storefront recruiting office, or Recruiting Operations Center, at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The ROC, located at 7205 Vista Drive, West Des Moines, is the first off-base recruiting office within the Iowa Air National Guard.

Civilian leaders and Iowa National Guard senior leadership will participate. An enlistment ceremony for new members of the 132nd Wing will also be held at this time.

According to Col. Kevin Heer, Commander of the 132nd Wing, “While the 132nd Wing has served our state and nation for 72 years as a close-air combat fighter and reconnaissance unit, our recent conversion to the Mission Control Element MQ-9 system prompts the need for a new Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Group, Operations Group-Remotely Piloted Aircraft, and Cyber Operations Squadron.  This new mission increases the technical training aptitude requirements needed for enlistment, which we feel is a perfect match for the educated youth of Iowa.”

The new Recruiting Operations Center mission focuses on enhancing local and state awareness of the Iowa Air National Guard through various community-based outreach programs. They also have the ability to assist servicemembers seeking opportunities in Iowa as a direct result of the Home Base Iowa program.
