U.S. is falling behind China in this area of military strength

U.S. lawmakers got a slap of reality in their faces yesterday when a Navy admiral told them China is surpassing the U.S. in terms of the number of a very lethal naval weapon it has at its disposal. He also told them China is deploying them over a much larger area of the world than it has in the past.

According to Reuters, Vice Adm. Joseph Mulloy, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Capabilities and Resources, told the House Armed Services Committee’s Seapower Subcommittee that China is building some “fairly amazing submarines” and now has more diesel- and nuclear-powered vessels than the United States. He did note China’s subs were still inferior, and that the U.S. military did not believe China carried nuclear missiles on its submarines, but that it had been producing missiles and testing them.
