Say goodbye to sub-$2 gas

Oil PlatformThe largest oil refinery strike since 1980 entered its second day today as negotiators for both management and the United Steelworkers returned to the negotiating table.

According to Bloomberg Business, the union has already rejected five offers from the oil companies. This is the first national strike since 1980, when the steelworkers walked off the job for three months. One refinery has been shuttered, while management has taken over operation of six others.

According to GasBuddy.com, the price of gas nationally has started to climb. In Iowa, however, the price has skyrocketed today by more than 30 cents a gallon.

Meanwhile, Republicans in the Iowa General Assembly and Congress are pushing for gas tax increases.
