DES MOINES – Chairman Jeff Kaufmann praised the Iowa House of Representatives for passing HF 517, which significantly expands Second Amendment rights in Iowa.

Statement from Chairman Jeff Kaufmann: “This bill sends a strong signal that our legislature is serious about expanding and protecting Second Amendment rights here in Iowa.

I thank all the bipartisan supporters in the Iowa House and the only credible Second Amendment groups in Iowa, the NRA and the Iowa Firearms Coalition, as well as the numerous other groups promoting this legislation. I particularly want to congratulate Speaker Linda Upmeyer for her leadership, and Speaker Pro Tempore Matt Windschitl, who has been working on this bill for years, and who worked across the aisle in making amendments and getting this legislation through the House.

I urge the Senate to take this bipartisan bill up as soon as practical and send it on to the Governor’s desk. ”
