Morning Dump LogoEvery day, we read through our email inbox in order to present you with the information from the political press releases that are most pertinent to you.

Short disclaimer: not all candidates send out press releases to us, so if your favorite isn’t showing up here, don’t get mad at us. We have told them all that we’d be more than happy to publish their releases. Also, we only make minor edits to clean up grammar and punctuation; the language and tone come directly from the campaigns themselves.

So, let’s rifle through today’s Morning Dump …

Huckabee pens Social Security op-ed for CNBC

Republican presidential candidate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee published an op-ed at CNBC.com Monday that lambasted several of his opponents who have called for abolishing Medicare and slashing Social Security benefits.

“They want to rob seniors of their benefits and give them a worthless healthcare voucher instead,” he wrote. “Let me be clear: raising the retirement age and slashing Medicare benefits for seniors who have been working for decades is theft! We have enough muggers in the streets without the government becoming one!”

Christie to headline Story County GOP event

The Republican Party of Story County announced today that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will be the keynote speaker for the sixth annual Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper. This will be the second visit to Story County by the Governor of New Jersey. This special event will take place at Gatherings in downtown Nevada on Friday, November 13, 2015 with doors opening at 5 p.m.

Governor Christie defeated incumbent Democrat Governor Jon Corzine in 2009 and was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2013. Prior to his election as Governor, Chris Christie served as a US Attorney from 2002-2008. Christie served as the Chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association from 2013-2014. During his tenure, states with Republican Governors increased from 29 to 31, including wins in deep blue states such as Illinois, Maine, and Maryland.

“We are looking forward to Story County voters having a chance to get to know Governor Christie,” said Jeff Ortiz Co-Chairman. “Our Wendy Jensen Memorial Chili Supper is a very special event and we are thankful that Governor Christie will be joining us.”

The dinner is an annual tradition in memory of Wendy Jensen. Wendy selflessly dedicated countless hours volunteering for Republican causes from 2008-2011.
