Rick Perry’s implosion, as told by Montgomery Brewster

Monty Brewster

The rumor started circulating when the South Carolina staff was told it was no longer going to be paid: former Texas Gov. Rick Perry was out of money. It wasn’t a big surprise to anyone who had been paying attention: Perry had struggled to raise $1 million, lagging far behind the competition, yet he had a full-blown General Election staff on the ground in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.

In all, he had more than two dozen paid staff. In Iowa alone he had seven paid staff, not including senior campaign director Jamie Johnson, who formerly led Rick Santorum’s Iowa campaign in 2012 and resigned from the Iowa GOP State Central Committee to assist with the Perry campaign. The latest reports indicate none of those folks will be collecting a paycheck anytime soon.

The .Gif Shop staff decided to tell the story in the most appropriate manner possible.
