Huckabee: Republican votes on TPA ‘disappointing’

Mike Huckabee -- HopeFrom Press Release

Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made the following statement in response to the Senate-passed Trade Promotion Authority bill, which passed the House of Representatives Friday.

“From Texas to Tennessee, California to the Carolinas, the Great Recession sent a whiplash across our country. Today, one-in-six Americans rely on the federal government for food stamps and 93 million Americans don’t have jobs.  We need more than a recovery, we need a reawakening. But on issue after issue, President Obama has been kicking American workers in the teeth with his out-of-control, job-killing agenda.

“President Obama can’t be trusted to negotiate a timeshare in Tampa, let alone a trillion dollar trade deal that could kill millions of jobs.  Obama has fooled and failed the American people for too long, and I am disappointed with Republicans who voted to trust him with ObamaTrade. Outsourcing jobs to Asia, undermining American workers, and empowering foreign diplomats with bad trade deals that drive American wages lower than the Dead Sea is no way to build a future.”

For weeks, Gov. Huckabee has been outspoken in his opposition to TPA.
