Young responds to RFS volume requirements

Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the long-awaited Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volume requirements for 2014, 2015, and 2016. Iowa Congressman David Young made this comment regarding the RFS requirements.

“The EPA’s new RFS requirements fall short of the law and shortchanges what is needed. Once again, the EPA has it all wrong,” he said. “Since its creation, the RFS has helped reduce the country’s dependency on foreign oil, promoted cleaner air, created good-paying jobs, and fostered rural economic growth. I am disappointed the EPA has issued renewable volume obligations not meeting the levels set by Congress. What’s worse is the dubious reasoning they use for not meeting these levels. The EPA’s delayed actions and backwards justifications have created uncertainty in the industry, constrained investment, hurt rural America, and reduced consumer choice.”

Young added, “I am committed to continue fighting for a strong RFS and against any attempts to undermine its use.”
