Blum offers ban on taxpayer-funded first-class flights

Congressman Blum -- CROPPEDFrom Press Release

Rep. Rod Blum (R-IA), along with Reps. Gwen Graham (D-FL), and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) offered an amendment to the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act which would prohibit funds from being used to pay for first class travel for Members of the House of Representatives. Rep. Blum will testify in support of the bipartisan amendment today at 4 p.m. Iowa time before the House Committee on Rules.

“This is not a partisan issue: members of the House of Representatives don’t need special taxpayer funded perks like first class travel to do our job. By adopting this amendment, the House can take a concrete step towards showing the American people that we are serious about good stewardship of taxpayer money — while holding ourselves accountable at a time when approval ratings for Congress remain near all time lows.”
