Santorum to headline Story County event

Chairman Brett Barker of the Republican Party of Story County has announced an evening with Senator Rick Santorum. The event will take place at Quirks Grill & Bar in Nevada on May 17 at 4 p.m. Santorum represented Pennsylvania in the United States Congress from 1990 until 2006. He was the winner of the 2012 Iowa Caucus.

“The Story County Republicans are looking forward to getting to see Senator Santorum,” Barker said. “Senator Santorum worked tirelessly to win the 2012 Caucus and Iowans are looking forward to catching up with him.”

Santorum was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1990 and to the U.S. Senate in 1994, where he served two terms. He won 11 primaries and caucuses in the 2012 election cycle and was runner-up to eventual Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

The Story County GOP also announced the addition of talk radio host Simon Conway of WHO-AM to its May 16 event at which Lousiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will speak.

“The Story County GOP is excited to welcome one of Iowa’s most prominent conservative voices to our event,” Barker said. “Simon Conway has one of the best shows on the radio and we are very thankful to have him join us.”
