Obama commemorates Selma marches

Obama Selma AnniversaryBy The Iowa Statesman

Yesterday, President Obama joined thousands of Americans at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL, to honor the sacrifice and bravery of the men and women who took part in the first of three marches for equal voting rights that took place there exactly 50 years ago.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were many of the original protesters, including U.S. Rep. John Lewis, who helped to organize the first march. Scroll down to see video from the event.
