Congressman David Young -- CROPPEDFrom Press Release

U.S. Rep. David Young (R-IA 3) announced this afternoon that he has been named to the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development. Young remains the only member of the Iowa delegation, House and Senate, on the powerful committee which is responsible for writing legislation that allocates funding to federal agencies and departments.

Young was moved from the Legislative Branch Subcommittee after a new Member joined the Appropriations Committee. He will continue serving on the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittees on Homeland Security and Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.

U.S. Rep.Hal Rogers of Kentucky, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee said this of the reshuffling, “Young has really hit the ground running here in Congress. He is working hard on behalf of Iowans each day, and that commitment will continue to be of great service on the Appropriations Committee.”

Young added, “Moving to the Subcommittee on Transportation Housing and Urban Development provides an exciting opportunity to better serve Iowans because it allows for oversight over two more branches of the federal government. My mission – continue to conduct rigorous review of our federal governments spending so that it is more efficient and effective.”

“Congress must use common sense to deliver solutions that respect and protect the hardworking taxpayers. I will work hard each day to demand that level of accountability,” continued Young.

The Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee has jurisdiction over the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Transportation and related agencies, including the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, Office of Inspector General, and National Transportation Safety Board.
